Featured Artist Peggy Furlin
Peggy is primarily a self taught watercolor artist . . . having been drawn to the creative outlet of painting since attending sketch classes with her mother as a young girl in Lake Mills, WI. After 20 years as an art director in Milwaukee, WI, during which she exhibited her artwork at art fairs, as time would allow, Peggy decided to follow her dream of painting as a full-time profession. Furlin has developed a style that is loose, colorful and uniquely bold, as she adds a level of interest and excitement to her chosen subject matter. We call it "watercolor outside the lines" All of her current work is done on watercolor canvas. She loves this new media for the freedom it offers and the effects it helps her produce.
“Watercolor on canvas? Perhaps you've seen it in the art supply stores. Maybe you've wanted to give it a try. Well, don't be afraid anymore. I've been painting exclusively on watercolor canvas for over two years now and I will pass along what I've learned about this exciting new painting surface. Imagine hanging your finished watercolor painting without glass, without a mat, even without a frame! You can do it!”
